Intro-Laura Paxton

August 19, 2008 by whitetigerdream

I'm a 39 year old woman living in North Carolina, USA, and I'm the woman who started this site. I have Asperger's Syndrome and Bipolar Disorder, as well as an anxiety disorder. I created this site because video support has always been helpful to me and I also like to create support videos and PSA's to educate people about these illnesses and others. Ten years ago, I wrote a book called Borderline and Beyond, which also had an accompanying workbook. I have two master's degrees, one in psychology and one in education with an emphasis on counseling. I've worked in the mental health field and also as a special ed teacher. Currently, I'm on SSDI and I have a part time job working with the mentally ill. I really believe in the power of a good support network, through any means possible. Some people have difficulty reaching out in person, so hopefully this site will offer some of those people what they lack.

Please don't be afraid to post your personal vlog

Please don't be afraid to post your personal vlog. People who have posted support vlogs have shown a lot of courage that may be difficult for other people to muster. However, when you post your personal vlog, you are offering copings skills and support to people who really need it.

This section is for discussing the process of posting support vlogs in general. If you'd like to post about a specific diagnosis, post in one of the forums below. Thanks!
